Lamb – Cotton Wool – Fila Brazillia remix – Universal

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Because of their distinctive sound, lots of people think Lamb must have been part of the  Bristol scene. But no they’re actually from Manchester.

My favourite Lamb track is Gorecki, (more of which later) but ‘Cotton Wool’ is a very close second, particularly the Fila Brazillia remix, which is a perfect mid 90′s (intelligent!?) Drum & Bass treatment, and appeared as a hidden track (remember them) on their Lamb album in 1996.  Electronic music isn’t known for its vocalists but Louise Rhodes has got to be up there with the best of them.

Lamb were very much seen as a cross over act and their tracks would appear all over the radio playlists.  Dancy types like me liked their similarity to acts such as Way Out West or Roni Size, the hip hop crowd also connected with them due to their similarity to Massive Attack.
